Utelisys Internet Services for De Struyck
The Struyck building is connected to the Utelisys Internet connection via a central fiber optic connection. Subsequently, Internet services are delivered through the data port in the living room.
Internet
The data port can be used to directly connect a laptop or computer using a network cable. There is no need for a modem. If WiFi is required, the resident will need to procure a WiFi router. Utelisys recommends using the 5 GHz frequency on a dual-band WiFi router for this purpose, as it is less sensitive to interference from WiFi networks in the immediate vicinity.
If a WiFi router is used, this almost always works with the default settings. If these are insufficient, the router can be set to ‘DHCP’ or ‘Automatic’.
Attention: If you choose to connect the computer or laptop directly, configure the Internet connection as a ‘Public network’. The necessary security measures are then taken as standard.
Helpdesk
For any questions regarding the use of the Internet services, tenants of De Struyck can contact the Utelisys Helpdesk.

My connection was blocked by security, why?
The network has a security system that blocks the connection in case a misconfigured device is connected. These can cause noisance and security vulnerabilities for you and other students connected to the network. Most often these are caused by:
- Routers connected with a LAN-port
- Computers connected directly with network sharing enabled
- ADSL, Coax or FIber Modems being used
- Access Points and switches being used
- WiFi Hotspot Services on laptops/computers
I can only connect one or two devices to the Internet over WiFi
My Playstation cannot connect to friends
